Shaping Africa’s Township and Rural Economy Future

The research conducted by the TECSA Think Tank targets high-impact areas that directly influence job creation and enterprise development. We prioritise township economic transformation by examining retail supply chain exclusion and developing pathways for informal economy integration. By addressing market access barriers, we help local SMEs move from the periphery to the centre of the national economy.
A significant portion of our research is dedicated to rural industrialisation and sector-specific development. This includes building robust agro-processing value chains and identifying the infrastructure gaps that currently limit rural logistics and distribution systems. Our studies extend across agriculture, construction, mining support services, and light manufacturing. Furthermore, we conduct rigorous gap analyses to understand why well-intentioned strategies often fail to reach the ground level. Through this work, we develop practical solutions that ensure planning leads to tangible economic change rather than mere administrative compliance.

Gap Analysis

A core priority is identifying why well-intentioned strategies often fail to reach the ground level and developing practical solutions to close these gaps.
